Regarding the initiating project to gain further insight into the world in which we would display our props and costumes, we toured Newstead Abbey, home to the richest history and finest setting appropriate the locate our body of work. Collectively as a group, we created different elements off costumes inspired by the original illustration of Alice in Wonderland created by John Tennial as seen below where I created a waistcoat. Decorated with gold hues and vibrant green I wanted my designs to capture the beauty of mad hatters personality through color, texture, and form highlighting the flamboyant silhouette through the exaggerated collar ruffles, echoing the Edwardian style ruffles as seen in Newstead. I created three designs all of which suggest a different part of the Hatters costume; Flamboyant trousers , a large top hat, and a waistcoat. Using watercolour and biro i wanted to capture the vibrant hues woven into the illustrations. Using the means of biro i was keen to explore a range of tones and create three-dimensional and comic-like sketch. Throughout the process of design i learnt different ways also too illustrate ideas and compositions
