Exploring Form and Shape
Following the theme of exploring stereotypes, within this project of normal people , I focussed on manipulating the shape and form through fabric creating a waistcoat. Within this project, I was keen to focus on adjusting the pattern pieces to fit the silhouette of the model.
Within the project ill learned key skills within working in practice, for example communicating with models and makers as seen through the fitting in which were vital to creating a neatly fitted garment. over the course of the project, i began to understand the importance of communication especially regarding the fitting and comfort of the performer. On reflection, I appreciate the way in which the lining fabric complements the pattern on the main fabric.
finances and sourcing materials
Within this project we were guided to go and source materials from charity shops in which gave me a wide selection of old garments with unique patterns and textures fitting with the style of the waistcoat. I found the process of reconstructing old garments made the project cheaper and more cost-effective as well as provided me with greater range of fabrics textures and styles .
